Shrink

This is a found poem using text from ‘Chasing Beauty’, a memoir piece by Jane Birkin. First published by Elle UK (October 2020)

always unfinished
imagined / considered
equally & exactly teased
to attention / up and open late
and everyone looking
in the corner, away
I shrink when all I wanted
was to scream a surprise
opposite him in
the summer.

Tell me what you think!
