Last year I was asked to contribute to an anthology entitled We Will Not Be Silenced: The Lived Experience of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Told Powerfully Through Poetry, Prose, Essay, and Art.
We Will Not Be Silenced features 166 pieces of writing and art from 95 contributors around the globe, and includes a piece written by myself. This beautiful, devastating, urgent, very important anthology was published in November 2018 by Indie Blu(e) Publishing, and edited by four fabulous human beings (Austin, Daquin, Finch and Ray).

I wrote Vignettes Of Violation about my own experiences with sexual assault and harassment, and focus on how and why these experiences have become (wrongly) normalised. Comprised of 5 parts (4 poems and 1 short paragraph of prose), Vignettes was extremely challenging to write but very rewarding to know that my work has been included in such a vital book alongside others’ stories of strength and survival.
“I don’t feel like a victim, and while that is a blessing, it is also part of the problem.” – Vignettes Of Violation
I’m posting the first part of Vignettes below. But, to read the rest, (and I like to believe that it gets better as the parts go on and is a piece that can only truly be understood as a whole) you will have to buy a copy of WWNBS!
