Another Plath-inspired enjambment poem.
In homage to the Community Psychiatric Nurse.
Your silk scarf,
little face, tells me not
to waste my life away.
Encouraging words,
the wisest of all women,
she says
Don’t quit what you love.
Shall I carry on smoking then?
Do what makes you happy.
Smoking makes me happy.
Well then.
I answer my own
questions, I do her job
for her. She is the
sweetest thing.
Play tennis, she says.
Stay up late, she says.
You’ll be ok, she promises.
Ah, the sweetest thing.
