Night parades around the sky,
a flamboyant Queen,
dancing in the centre of the ring
of fire with his minions, the night birds,
watching in awe.
Moon stands nearby,
coy, seductive in stature like a King.
She casts her white shadows
on them, moving the tides with her
fingertips, creating a sound to which
they both can dance.
The Royal couple dance for several hours,
taunting the sleeping earth below,
throwing their heads back and laughing.
The Sun Police arrive: it’s a raid.
The majestic two, Night and Moon,
go into hiding and make a lovers pact;
they shall return soon. And they promise
each other that they will dance the Day away.
